Virginia Family & Pediatric Chiropractors

Patient-Focused Chiropractic Care for Families

Chiropractic care offers safe, reliable and noninvasive treatment options for a wide range of pain symptoms and conditions that affect people of all ages. At Tuck Chiropractic Clinic, our chiropractors have experience working with families — parents, expectant parents, and children — to improve health and wellness, and relieve pain symptoms that can result from a busy family lifestyle.

A Safe and Noninvasive Alternative for Families

Raising a family is hard work, and as a busy parent, some of your basic, daily activities can have a significant effect on your health. Housework, yard work, lifting your kids, and even poor sleep habits can result in debilitating aches and pains that only worsen without proactive steps to alleviate them.

Chiropractic care offers a safe, effective, and drug-free alternative for improving your health and wellness, and managing pain that can result from the tough job of being a parent.

Chiropractic can also be a safe and productive treatment option for children suffering from musculoskeletal problems, as well as common conditions, such as ear infections and colic, that may otherwise require surgery or medication.

Expectant mothers can also benefit from chiropractic during pregnancy, which can relieve pain naturally without the use of drugs.

Chiropractic Care During Pregnancy

Studies show that at some point during pregnancy, more than half of all pregnant women will develop lower back pain. Chiropractic care can significantly reduce pregnancy pain and discomfort by aligning the body and relieving pressure. Proper alignment can also assist with an easier birth.

Pregnant women often experience sore joints and ligaments as a result of weight gain, which can be a major contributor to the pain they may experience during pregnancy.

Pediatric Chiropractic Care

Parents are increasingly discovering the benefits of chiropractic care for their children. In fact, pediatric chiropractic accounted for about 17 percent of chiropractic services in 2010, according to the American Chiropractic Association.

In addition to traditional chiropractic benefits — including relief from lower back pain, neck pain and headaches — research suggests that chiropractic can help children with health problems that aren’t musculoskeletal in nature.

Ear infections, for example, have become one of the most common reasons children see chiropractors, according to the American Chiropractic Association. Ear infections can be very painful, and if they become chronic, can require surgery. Chiropractic treatment is a noninvasive approach to stopping muscle spasms that, in some cases, cause fluid buildup in the middle ear cavity that leads to ear infections. One study showed 80 percent of children did not have a recurring ear infection in the six months after a chiropractic consultation for ear infection.

Chiropractic can also provide a drug-free alternative for easing symptoms of colic, a common condition among infants. Studies show that chiropractic manipulation significantly reduces crying and interrupted sleep that often results from colic. The long-term effects of frequent colic, such as chronic interrupted sleep and temper tantrums, were also reduced in toddlers who received chiropractic care throughout infancy.

If you have a child who suffers from any of these conditions, pediatric chiropractic care can be a safe, effective and drug-free option. Please contact us with any questions or to learn more. And if chiropractic is not the best solution for your child’s symptoms, our doctors will work with you to find the care he or she needs.
